PANEL DISCUSSION: Impact of the global green revolution on Asia Pacific

Europe and Japan had lead the first wave of green revolution, be it in terms of development or adaption of green technologies and processes. While these two still hold a substantial sway over the developments, the momentum is clearly shifting. There is a new vigor among both large and small Asia Pacific nations to go green. This is not just to import and implement what is already developed elsewhere.

Rules are being rewritten and green products/solutions are being developed by Asia Pacific enterprises, both for their own local consumption and also for global markets. But it is still a drop in the ocean. Apart from the conventional energy & environment industries, this quest for green cuts across sectors including Information and Communication Technology, Automotive, Chemicals, Health Care, Electronics etc. Clearly there are more opportunities for Asian companies to innovate, commercialize, export and leapfrog. What are they currently doing and what should they do to ride the next wave?

ASK THE EXPERTS! PANEL DISCUSSION: How Green will lead to convergence of interests and hence redefine the competitive landscape of various industries?

Recent developments in the areas such as renewable energy, smart grids, green buildings, electric vehicles, sustainable IT etc has pushed the need for collaborative approach between industry segments and organizations therein, to a new level. This has also created entirely new set of business opportunities and delivery models, which the market participants are keen to explore. It also means that traditional industry boundaries are redrawn.

e.g. technology companies are aggressively pursuing to take leadership role in smart grid projects, an area which has traditionally been the domain of electrical engineering companies. Interact with the experts who discuss the impact of such developments on their respective sectors.
